Corporate Services Cabinet Member – minutes – 16 December 2008

211 (78) TRANSFORMING ADULT SERVICES GRANT – The Service Director Adult Social Care submitted a report seeking endorsement of the proposed use the of Transforming Adult Services Grant, and seeking approval to establish various posts within Adult Services.

The council had been given a specific grant for the purposes of improving services for vulnerable adults and their carers in line with the government’s agenda as outlined in “Putting People First” and “Our Health, Our Care, Our Say”.

To ensure that the necessary improvements were made, the council would:

  • Work with providers to help them to make changes to enable people to buy their services directly,
  • Improve access to services and public information,
  • Work with health services to support the workforce through the significant transformational change, and
  • Enhance the prevention service to improve capacity so that it engaged all service users and carers as partners.

The report and accompanying appendix gave details of how the proposed developments would take place, along with proposals for posts to be created in order to make the necessary improvements.

Resolved – (a) That the proposed use of the Transforming Adult Services Grant, as set out in the report, be endorsed, and (b) that the proposal to establish posts, as detailed in Appendix 1, be approved
