46(11) APPLICATION FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE – SCUNTHORPE/MONTELIMAR EXCHANGE – The Service Director Legal and Democratic submitted a report in connection with this year’s exchange between Scunthorpe and Montelimar. This year a party of some 21 students would be visiting North Lincolnshire from Montelimar in mid July. A full programme of events and visits had been arranged. This exchange had been in existence for many years and was continuing to grow in strength. The application was for financial assistance towards the costs involved.

Resolved – That a grant of £200 be made to the Scunthorpe/Montelimar Exchange in the financial year 2008/2009.

47(12) APPLICATION FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE – 1ST KIRTON IN LINDSEY SCOUT GROUP – The Service Director Legal and Democratic submitted a report in connection with this year’s exchange between the 1st Kirton in Lindsey Scout Group and a Scout Group in Norway. This year a party of scouts from Norway would be visiting North Lincolnshire and a number of events had been organised. This exchange took place every four years and had been in existence for some 30 years. The application was for financial assistance towards the costs involved.

Resolved – That a grant of £200 be made to the 1st Kirton in Lindsey Scout Group in the financial year 2008/2009.

48(13) PUBLIC LIBRARY AUTHORITIES CONFERENCE 2008 – “CULTURE CONNECTS” – The Service Director Legal and Democratic submitted a report in connection with the Public Library Authorities Conference 2008 entitled “Culture Connects”. This year the Conference would be held in Liverpool from 8 to 10 October 2008. The key themes around this year’s Conference were about Culture connecting individuals and communities and providing inspiration and the sense of place for everyone. Libraries were at the heart of cultural life.

Resolved – That the Cabinet Member for Leisure, Arts and Culture be authorised to attend the above mentioned Conference.
