Children’s Services Cabinet Member – Minutes – 18 February 2010

146 (28) YOUTH SERVICE GRANT AID 2009/2010 – The Service Director Children and Young People submitted a report seeking approval for grant aid allocation for 2009/2010 for groups registered with the Youth Service.

The Youth Service budget had an allocation to support voluntary youth groups and help them meet their costs. There were four elements for which groups could apply for financial support:

  • Salaries
  • Maintenance
  • Initial
  • Equipment

Those registered youth groups who used educational premises could apply for a subsidy through the Community Use of Schools Grant. These groups could not apply for a maintenance grant.

The Cabinet Member would need to fix the level of grant aid. The maximum amount of grant which could be allocated in each of the categories was:

  • Salaries 75 per cent
  • Maintenance Rent 50 per cent
  • Maintenance Owned buildings 50 per cent
  • Initial Up to £100
  • Equipment Lower of 50 per cent or £100

Resolved – (a) That option 3.3 of the report, to amalgamate budget allocations for each grant and determine the highest level of funding possible within the total (50 per cent), be approved, and (b) that the grants be awarded to the organisations set out in the appendices attached to the report.
