1 (1) PROPOSED DELETION OF LEARNING AND IMPROVEMENT SERVICE POSTS FROM 31 MARCH 2011 – The Service Director Children’s Services submitted a report which outlined a proposal for the deletion of posts from 31 March 2011 due to the removal of grant funding to deliver National Strategies, Healthy Schools and other services via schools’ Service Level Agreement.

From April 2011 the grant funding for posts delivering strategies introduced by the previous government had been cut. The effect of this on staffing in the Learning and Improvement team was acknowledged as soon as the announcement was made in June 2010.

Staff had been alerted to the potential risk to jobs and schools had been consulted about their potential future purchase of the existing service.

An urgent decision was required to comply with statutory requirements.

Resolved – That the deletion of the posts set out within the report with effect from 31 March 2011 be approved.
