100 (6) REGENERATION IN HARD TIMES: THE CHALLENGE FOR INDUSTRIAL COMMUNITIES – The Service Director Legal and Democratic submitted a report in connection with the Industrial Communities Liaise annual conference 2010 entitled Regeneration in Hard Times: The Challenge for Industrial Communities which is to be held 21-23 September 2010 in Stoke on Trent.

The conference will take place against the backdrop of significant upheaval in the wake of the General Election in May 2010. With extensive cuts proposed in the public sector, increased emphasis on localism and, in England, demise of the IDA, these times will be challenged for Councillors and third sector. The conference will address some of these and other issues.

Resolved – That two members of the ruling group and one member of the opposition will be authorised to attend the above mentioned conference.
