Adult & Children’s Services Cabinet Member – Minutes – 27 January 2012

All Children’s Centres were subject to an Ofsted inspection on a five yearly cycle.  The inspections were carried out under Part 3A of the Childcare Act 2006, as amended by Section 199 of the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009.

Both Westcliff and Little Goslings Children Centres were phase one centres, both providing the full core offer of services to their respective communities.  Separate Ofsted Inspection Teams inspected the centres on 15 and 16 December 2011.  The inspections were conducted using the revised, more demanding inspection guidance issued by Ofsted in September 2011.

The inspection reports gave a judgement on the overall effectiveness of the provision and the capacity for sustained improvement.

The report gave full details of the outcomes of the inspections.

Resolved – (a) That the improvements in the Westcliff and Little Goslings Children’s Centres continue to be supported, and (b) that the Cabinet Member writes to both Children’s Centre managers and makes suitable comments on the inspection reports.

50  (50) OFSTED INSPECTIONS – The Director of Children and Young People’s Services submitted a report informing the Cabinet Member of the outcomes of the Ofsted inspections for Burton upon Stather Primary School, Berkeley Junior School, Killingholme Primary School, Wrawby St Mary’s CE Primary School, Lincoln Gardens Primary School, New Holland Church of England and Methodist Primary School and Winterton Comprehensive School.

The schools had been inspected under the Section 5 Ofsted inspection schedule for schools.  Full copies of the reports had been placed in the political group offices.

Resolved – (a) That approval be given to continue supporting improvements in the schools inspected above, and (b) that the Cabinet Member writes to the schools and makes suitable comment on the reports.
