The Leader of the Council – Minutes – 15 May 2012

20  (1) JUBILEE GRANT AID REQUEST – The Chief Executive submitted a report seeking consideration of the Jubilee Grant Aid requests that had been received by North Lincolnshire Council, and sought approval for the level of financial assistance to be provided.

The report highlighted that the Queen would celebrate her Diamond Jubilee in 2012 and many communities planned to mark this occasion with various activities and by supplying commemorative items.  Requests for support had been received from town and parish councils, community groups and other individuals.

The council had allocated £25,000 to help communities in North Lincolnshire celebrate this event and subsequently, 50 requests for assistance had been received. Formal presentation of the approved Jubilee Grant Aid requests would be made on 21 May 2012 at the Civic Centre, Ashby Road, Scunthorpe.

The matter was urgent to enable groups to plan events to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee.
