People Cabinet Member – Minute – 23 January 2014

116      (45) DEFIBRILLATORS IN SCHOOLS – The Director of People submitted a report which sought consideration of providing defibrillators in secondary schools not covered by previous financial assistance from the Community Grant Fund.

An application for grant funding was received from the Member of Parliament for Brigg and Goole to provide defibrillators in NorthLincolnshire’s rural secondary schools.  The project provided the secondary schools with a defibrillator via the East Midlands Ambulance Service, and who also provided the necessary training sessions (Minute 14 of the joint decision taken by the Customer Services, Sport & Leisure, Asset Management, Culture & Housing and People Cabinet Members refers).

Following correspondence and consultation with the remaining seven secondary schools a proposal had been developed that would make available a similar package of equipment and training that was the subject of the successful community grant bid. It was confirmed that five of these schools – Huntcliff Academy, Melior Academy, Brumby Outwood Grange Academy, St Lawrence Academy and Frederick Gough School were keen to enter the scheme.

Resolved – That the provision of defibrillators in the named schools be approved.
