Policy & Resources Cabinet Member – Minutes – 7 June 2013

The corresponding report of the following item (Minute 68refers) contains exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 1 and 2 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended).

68        (8) REVIEW OF TRADE UNION FACILITIES – The Director of Policy and Resources submitted a report which sought consideration of the future Trade Union facilities arrangement.

In accordance with the Trade Union & Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992 the council was committed to ensuring that its employees were given the opportunity to be informed of all matters relevant to their employment and to participate through union representatives in the process of consultation and negotiation.

In March 2013 the Department for Communities and Local Government wrote to Leaders of Councils in England with more detailed advice from the Secretary of State on how authorities could deliver savings in this area.  The letter set out key principles that authorities should take into account when undertaking their own reviews of local arrangements.

Details of the proposals were outlined within the report.

Resolved – That option 2, at paragraphs 3.2 of the report, be approved and adopted.

Note: Reports are in Portable Document Format (PDF) and therefore require a suitable reader to view them. A reader can be downloaded free from the Adobe website (full instructions for downloading the reader are provided on the site).

Where there is no report this is because it is exempt, as it contains information which is considered to be of a confidential nature, as detailed in the Local Government (Access to Information) Act.
