Highways & Neighbourhoods Cabinet Member – Minutes – 12 June 2014

In accordance with the Executive Procedure Rules of the council’s Constitution, the Leader of the Council was authorised to take the following decision on behalf of the Highways and Neighbourhoods Cabinet Member in his absence.

123                (1)  EXTENDING FREE CAR PARKING – The Director of Places submitted a report seeking approval for further extensions to the existing free car parking arrangements covering all council operated pay and display parks in North Lincolnshire.

A number of ‘free parking’ initiatives currently operated across North Lincolnshire.  These included the first two hours free in all council operated pay and display car parks, introduced on 12 May 2014 (Minute 118 refers) aimed at boosting the prosperity of the town centres, particularly for business.

It was proposed to further extend the availability of free parking by offering free parking in all council operated pay and display car parks for the full day on Saturdays.  Monies were allocated in the 2014/18 budget plan to facilitate taking this policy forward.

Resolved – That extensions to the existing free car parking arrangements to free parking in all council operated pay and display car parks on Saturdays, with effect from 21 June 2014, be approved.
