Regeneration Cabinet Member – Minutes – 22 September 2014

99  (15)  NORTHERN LINCOLNSHIRE LEADER LOCAL ACTION GROUP (LAG) LOCAL DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY The Director of Places submitted a report, which sought approval of the new Northern Lincolnshire (LAG) Local Development Strategy (LDS).

The report explained that the new national RDPE LEADER Programme ran from 2015 to 2020 and would focus on supporting job creation and growth in rural economies. The key priorities were identified as:

·           Increasing farm productivity.

·          Support for micro and small businesses and farm diversification.

·          Support for rural tourism.

·          Provision of rural services.

·                Support for cultural and heritage activity

·               Support for increasing forestry productivity

To secure the funding for Northern Lincolnshire, the LAG developed a Local Development Strategy (LDS) which set out how funding would be invested in the area.

Indicative funding of £1.659m was available based on the LAG boundary and rural population, it was however explained that this may change and that the final funding would depend on the eventual number of LAGs approved.

The eligible area was based on rural/urban classifications and built up area geographies, and was identified in Appendix B to the report.  It was explained that despite efforts to lobby for its inclusion, Barton-upon-Humber remained ineligible.

Resolved – That the LEADER LDS be approved for submission to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
