112      (27)  APPLICATION FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE – KIRMINGTON   TWINNING GROUP – The Director of Policy and Resources submitted a report in connection with an application received for financial assistance towards the costs of an exchange between the Kirmington Twinning Group and the District of Terbregge, Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

This is a new twinning agreement to bring together the communities of Kirmington  and Terbregge to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of food drops to the population of Terbregge by 166 Squadron based at RAF Kirmington who were known to have   dropped food at Terbregge.  The purpose of the twinning agreement is to form a lasting bond of friendship and understanding between the people of two nations bound    together by historical events.  All members of both communities will be encouraged      to participate in twinning events with particular focus aimed at young people who will be given the opportunity to visit another country, meet other young people and learn about the wider world.

Resolved – That a grant of £200 be made to the Kirmington Twinning Group.
