Customer Services, Sport & Leisure Cabinet Member – Minutes – 22 October 2015

6 (6)  COMMUNITY DEFIBRILLATORS – The Director of Places submitted a report seeking approval to draw down funding for community defibrillators from 2016/17 budget to deal with the waiting list.

In July 2014 the Cabinet Member agreed to fund defibrillators in community settings (minute 32 refers).  A list of towns and villages were identified as priority sites for community defibrillators.

Work was taking place with East Midlands Ambulance Service and Lincolnshire Integrated Voluntary Emergencies Services to roll out the delivery of community defibrillators.  They were located throughout North Lincolnshire.

The budget for 2015/16 for the project had been fully allocated and requests had been received for another 13 community defibrillators.

In February 2015, the council approved its four year capital programme.  There was £25,000 available each year for the next four years to fund the community defibrillator programme.

Resolved – (a) That the proposal to bring forward the £25,000 budget allocated for community defibrillators in 2016/17, to fund the early purchase and installation of units at the 13 sites on the waiting list, be approved, and (b) that any further requests for additional defibrillators be deferred until 1 April 2017 in line with the funding approved in the four year capital programme.
