Regeneration & Devolution Cabinet Member – Minutes – 29 July 2015

4          (4)  CREATION OF SSE PROGRAMME STAFFING – The Director of Policy and Resources submitted a report which sought approval for the creation of one new part time fixed term post to administer the SSE Programme – namely the North Lincolnshire Sustainable Development Fund and Keadby Sustainable Development Fund.

It was explained that the council received £340,000 per year from the British energy firm SSE plc. Of this, £170,000 per year was for the Axholme North area, with a further £170,000 available to the whole of North Lincolnshire.

The aim of the fund was to resource community projects that delivered against the following 3 priorities:

·         Increase job opportunities and employment

·         Enable communities to develop renewable energy schemes

·         Enhance the natural built environment

The council acted as the Accountable Body for the two funds and a Board for each fund was in place to oversee the allocation of funding. The steering group comprised representatives from the public, private and voluntary sectors with relevant Ward Councillors sitting on the Steering Group.

The proposed structure for delivering the SSE Programme was to have a part-time (0.5 FTE) Programme Support Officer who would facilitate and support the Boards in their decision making and provide the secretariat for both groups.

Resolved – That the creation of the fixed term SSE Programme Support Officer post be approved.
