7 (7) ACCELERATED HOUSING PARTNERSHIP – The Director: Business Development submitted a report proposing a strategic programme for housing delivery working in partnership with the Government and ONGO.
Scunthorpe had a significant role to play in the housing market. HM Government was looking for some substantial certainty in the delivery of housing numbers over the next three years.
HM Government were looking to bring forward 6500 starts in Yorkshire and Humber before March 2018 and completed by March 2020. Funding was being made available to support the ambitious target.
The council, in partnership with ONGO and HM Government had put together a three year programme to deliver 240 homes through a flexible tenure model, with a vision of ‘Aspiration for home ownership’.
The report set out details of the proposed programme, including financial implications.
Resolved – (a) That the proposed programme outlined in the report be approved in principal, and (b) that a further report be submitted to the Cabinet Member once the programme had been worked up and agreed with partners.
