The Leader of The Council – Minutes – 15 August 2018

1 (1) NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE (2017 TO 2036) STATEMENT OF COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT – ADOPTION – The Director: Business Development submitted a report to inform the Cabinet Member of the public and stakeholder consultation on the Draft Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) and seek approval for adoption.

Section 18 of Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (as amended) required local planning authorities to produce an SCI, as part of their Local Plans.

The SCI set out the methods that were used to encourage and facilitate participation at the different stages of the Local Plan preparation and encouraged community involvement at the early stages when ideas were being developed. The methods of community involvement used depended on the document in question and the stage of preparation. The SCI also set out a commitment to consultation on planning applications, in particular those considered to be major planning applications.

The council was working on a new approach to planning policy through a new style Local Plan. It was considered to be the right time for the council to review its SCI.

A period of four weeks between 29 January and 26 February 2018 gave local people and other key stakeholders to put forward their views on the draft SCI. Details of the comments were identified at Appendix 1 of the report.

Resolved – (a) That the consultation responses received on the Draft Statement of Community Involvement be noted, (b) that adoption of the Statement of Community Involvement be recommended, and (c) that this report be referred to the Planning Committee for information
