Health Scrutiny Panel – 4 September 2012
PRESENT:- Councillor Bromby in the chair.
Councillors Barker (Vice-Chair), Bainbridge, Clark and Eckhardt.
Councillor Whiteley attended the meeting in accordance with the provisions of Procedure Rule 1.36 (b).
The panel met at the Civic Centre, Scunthorpe.
33 DECLARATIONS OF DISCLOSABLE PECUNIARY INTERESTS AND PERSONAL OR PERSONAL AND PREJUDICIAL INTERESTS AND DECLARATIONS OF WHIPPING ARRANGEMENTS (IF ANY) – There were no declarations of disclosable pecuniary interests and personal or personal and prejudicial interests –
No whip was declared.
34 PUBLIC REQUESTS TO SPEAK– There were no requests received.
35 DISCUSSION WITH EAST MIDLANDS AMBULANCE SERVICE– The panel was informed by the Director, Policy and Resources, that he had received notification from East Midlands Ambulance Service that they would not now be attending the meeting. This was due to their forthcoming consultation document on proposed changes to service delivery not yet being launched.
Resolved – (a) That discussions be rescheduled after the consultation document becomes available, and (b) that the panel write to the ambulance service’s Chief Executive, expressing their disappointment about the short period of notice given.
36 CONSULTATION ON LOCAL AUTHORITY HEALTH SCRUTINY. – The Chairman led a discussion on a draft response to the ongoing local authority health scrutiny consultation. It had previously been agreed that, as part of the panel’s successful bid to become a Scrutiny Development Area, a joint response had been agreed with NHS North Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group.
Resolved – That the panel approve the response and return to the Department of Health.
37 SITE VISITS – The Director, Policy and Resources, reminded the panel about future site visits to Scunthorpe General Hospital, the Ironstone Centre, and Providence House.
38 DEVELOPMENTS IN HEALTH – Members received a short, verbal update on developing issues relevant to the panel’s terms of reference.
39 ADDED ITEM – There was no added item for consideration at the meeting.
