Councillor Whiteley attended the meeting in accordance with the provisions of Procedure Rule 1.37 (b).
The panel met at the Civic Centre, Scunthorpe.
248 DECLARATIONS OF DISCOSABLE PECUNIARY INTERESTS AND PERSONAL OR PERSONAL AND PREJUDICIAL INTERESTS AND DECLARATIONS OF WHIPPING ARRANGEMENTS (IF ANY) – The following member declared a personal interest – There were no declarations of pecuniary or personal and prejudicial interests.
No whip was declared.
249 PUBLIC REQUESTS TO SPEAK – There were no requests received.
250 SCHOOL PLACES IN NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE – The Chairman welcomed Becky McIntyre and Steve Piper to the meeting who gave an informative update on the current provision of school places in North Lincolnshire. The officers provided a very informative presentation paying particular attention on projected school place requirements, and how this will to be managed in North Lincolnshire.
Resolved – (a) That the officers be thanked for their attendance, and (b)that the position be noted.
251 PEOLE SCRUTINY REPORT ON EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS – The Chairman welcomed Peter Thorpe the Assistant Director – Education to the meeting. Peter supplied the panel with a copy of the report and action plan that had been formulated ready for submission to Cabinet, on actions taken in response to the scrutiny panel report on employability skills.
The scrutiny report contained ten recommendations, which the Education and Economic Engagement Partnership (EEEP) had now taken ownership of. The panel were informed that the partnership had initiated work to respond to the recommendations, and work to date was detailed in the progress report circulated at the meeting.
Resolved – (a) That Peter Thorpe be thanked for his attendance, and (b) that the progress be noted.
