Health Scrutiny Panel – 25 November 2014

PRESENT:-   Councillor Mrs Bromby in the chair.

Councillors Barker (Vice-Chair), Bainbridge, Eckhardt and Ogg.

Councillors Whiteley and Wilson attended the meeting in accordance with the provisions of Procedure Rule 1.37 (b).

The panel met at the Civic Centre, Scunthorpe.

270  DECLARATIONS OF DISCLOSABLE PECUNIARY INTERESTS AND PERSONAL OR PERSONAL AND PREJUDICIAL INTERESTS AND DECLARATIONS OF WHIPPING ARRANGEMENTS (IF ANY) – Cllr Eckhardt declared a personal interest as a Trustee of Lincoln & Lindsey Blind Society

No whip was declared.

271  PUBLIC REQUESTS TO SPEAK– There were no requests received.

272  HEALTHY LIVES, HEALTHY FUTURES – The Chairman initiated a discussion around the recent regional ‘Healthy Lives, Healthy Futures’ scrutiny event.  There was consensus that detail around the available options and funding would have assisted members in their discussions, but that the event provided a useful context for any forthcoming consultation on the programme.

The Director of Policy and Resources then confirmed that arrangements for the centralisation of some elements of stroke and ENT care across Northern Lincolnshire had been agreed by commissioners.

Resolved – That the situation be noted.

273  LOCAL EYE HEALTH SERVICES – The Director Policy and Resources advised the panel that a timetable with relevant witnesses had been drawn up, as requested by members.  Arrangements were being made to facilitate the panel’s work on this subject.

274  DEVELOPMENTS IN HEALTH – Members received a short, oral update on developing issues relevant to the panel’s terms of reference.
