People Scrutiny Panel – 23 June 2015

Councillors Allcock, Armitage, Glover and Wilson.
Statutory Co-opted Members: Mrs P Whittaker, Mrs D Senior (Parent Governor Representatives), Mr W Egan (Church Representative).
The panel met at the Civic Centre, Scunthorpe.
303 DECLARATIONS OF DISCLOSABLE PECUNIARY INTERESTS AND PERSONAL OR PERSONAL AND PREJUDICIAL INTERESTS AND DECLARATIONS OF WHIPPING ARRANGEMENTS (IF ANY) – There were no declarations or whip declared.
304 PUBLIC REQUESTS TO SPEAK– There were no requests received.
305 CABINET MEMBER AND SERVICE AREA PRIORITIES – The Chairman welcomed Councillor Reed, the council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Services, and Councillor Waltham, the Cabinet Member for Health and Strategic Projects, to the meeting. Councillors Reed and Waltham had been invited to the panel meeting to update members on any key decisions, important business or key developments, which had occurred, were ongoing or were planned for the future. Members held a wide-ranging discussion about relevant issues.
Resolved – (a) That the Cabinet Members for Adult Services and Health and Strategic Projects be thanked for their attendance, presentation and for answering members’ questions, and (b) that the panel conduct site visits to relevant Community Hubs when fully operational.
306 FUTURE WORK PROGRAMME AND PRIORITIES – The Chairman led a discussion on the panel’s priorities and potential work programme for the 2015/16 municipal year.
Members noted previous work that was due to be revisited, as well as possible review topics previously submitted by members.
Resolved – (a) That the Director of Public Health be invited to update the Panel on progress with the action plan arising from the 2014 report “Childhood Weight in North Lincolnshire”, and (b) that the Director of People be invited to provide an overview of the current and planned situation regarding arrangements for adoption and fostering across North Lincolnshire.
