Statutory Co-opted Members: Mr W Egan (Church Representative) and Mr S Milner and Mrs P Whittaker (Parent Governor Representatives).

The panel met at the Civic Centre, Scunthorpe.

404     DECLARATIONS OF DISCLOSABLE PECUNIARY INTERESTS AND PERSONAL OR PERSONAL AND PREJUDICIAL INTERESTS, AND DECLARATIONS OF WHIPPING ARRANGEMENTS (IF ANY) – There were no declarations of disclosable pecuniary interests and personal or personal and prejudicial interests.

No whip was declared.

405     PUBLIC REQUESTS TO SPEAK – There were no requests received.

406      SUPPORTING LOOKED AFTER CHILDREN INTO EDUCATION, EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING – The Chairman welcomed Sergeant McKellar Main, Humberside Police, to the meeting.  The Chairman explained that Sergeant McKellar Main had been invited to discuss Humberside Police’s recent contribution to the local Aspiration Day and other work to engage with local children and young people.  Sergeant McKellar Main described how the police worked with North Lincolnshire Council through schemes such as the Rock Challenge, Lifestyle Challenge and Night Challenge, which aimed to empower and educate young people, improving their health and wellbeing.  Members asked relevant questions, contributing to a wide-ranging discussion about supporting children and young people, including looked after children.

Resolved – (a) That Sergeant McKellar Main be thanked for his attendance, presentation and for answering members’ questions, and (b) that the situation be noted.
