Neighbourhood, Environmental and Communities and Corporate Services Cabinet Members – minutes – 24 October 2008

2 (2) POST OF HEALTH IMPROVEMENT AND PARTNERSHIPS MANAGER – The Service Director Neighbourhood and Environment submitted an urgent report seeking approval for a change in the reporting line, duties and responsibilities of the currently designated post of Health Improvement Strategy Manager.

The post of Health Improvement Strategy Manager currently reported to the vacant post of Head of Performance and Partnerships. It was the intention to formalise the interim management reporting line in a review of the Performance and Partnerships division that was to be considered by the Corporate Services Cabinet Member in November 2008. However, early recruitment to the revised post would enable the council and the Primary Care Trust to accelerate the actions needed to achieve the requirements of the area’s public health agenda. Therefore an urgent decision was sought on the matter.

In addition, as a result of the recent peer review of Healthy Communities, it was intended that the post would have a wider remit focusing on developing partnerships both inside and outside of the council to address the recommendations made by the peer review.

The Director of Public Health was supportive of this approach, which he saw as pivotal in achieving the area’s public health outcomes. The post holder would have a ‘dotted line’ responsibility to the Director.

Resolved – That the regrading and redesignation of the post of Health Improvement Strategy Manager, as set out in the report, be approved.
