29 (1) LEISURE GRANT AID APRIL 2008 – The Service Director Asset Management and Culture submitted a report giving details of the different leisure grant aid schemes in existence, and seeking approval of applications for financial assistance.

30 (2) ARTS DEVELOPMENT GRANT APPLICATIONS – The Service Director Asset Management and Culture submitted a report seeking approval for grant aid from the Arts Development Scheme.

Arts Development had received applications for grant aid from the Arts Development Grant Scheme from Burton Music Festival and Barton Arts Week.

Burton Music Festival began in 2004 and had grown from a one day festival to a three day festival. It was to take place from the Friday 13 – Sunday 15 June and was held on Burton upon Stather Playing Fields.

Barton Arts took place across a number of venues in Barton from Saturday 28 June – Sunday 6 July.

The criteria for grant aid and the proposed programmes for the two events were set out in the report and appendices.

Resolved– (a) That £1,500 be offered in support of Burton Music Festival, and (b) that £500 be offered in support of Barton Arts Week.
