Adult Services Cabinet Member – minutes – 12 February 2010

The following item contains exempt information as defined in paragraph 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended).

49 (9) STRATEGIC CARE HOMES PARTNERSHIP – The Service Director Adult Social Care submitted a report updating the Cabinet Member with regard to proposals for a quality scheme for the Strategic Care Homes Partnership.

The council had a strong relationship with the care home sector, together a quality scheme had been developed, which targeted the higher fee to those services that demonstrated quality services.

Previous work with the care home owners and a consultancy had produced a formula for a fair fee, however, this was now out of date. The sector commenced work last year to look at developing an up to date fair fee model, it was well recognised that the Rowntree research identified a fair fee by both municipal area and principalities.

The report gave details of the options available to the Cabinet Member.

Resolved – (a) That the contents of the report be noted, and the work that had taken place through the year be recognised, (b) that the continuing intention to pay a fair fee for the elderly population of North Lincolnshire when finances are available be supported, and (c) that to focus increases on quality, it be ensured any increase is placed solely into the quality scheme.
