The following items contain exempt information as defined in paragraphs and 1 and 2 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended).

1 (1) SENIOR MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE’S SERVICE – The Service Director Children and Young People submitted a report considering the key challenges the service faced and considering changes to the Senior Management structure to effectively meet them.

The Shaping of the Council Committee 9 June 2009 approved the deletion of the posts of Service Directors Children, Strategy and Partnerships and Learning, Schools and Communities, and the creation of one post as Service Director Children’s Services acting as Statutory Director of Children’s Services to replace the two existing Service Director posts, and a temporary post of Service Director Transition.

The post of Chief Executive – Individuals and Statutory DCS as Director for Children’s Services was amended to remove the statutory responsibility for children’s services.

It was agreed that a more detailed review of the Senior Management structure of the new Children’s Service be undertaken as a matter of urgency to ensure capacity existed to manage the fully integrated service.

Resolved – That the recommendations, as set out in the report, be approved and adopted.

Note: Reports are in Portable Document Format (PDF) and therefore require a suitable reader to view them. A reader can be downloaded free from the Adobe website (full instructions for downloading the reader are provided on the site).

Where there is no report this is because it is exempt, as it contains information which is considered to be of a confidential nature, as detailed in the Local Government (Access to Information) Act.
