Highways and Planning Cabinet Member – Minutes – 17 June 2009

57 (1) AIM 3: BETTER ROUTES STRUCTURAL REVIEW – The Service Director Highways and Planning submitted a report seeking endorsement of proposals to restructure the Better Routes function within Highways and Planning.

It was proposed: to restructure the whole Better Routes function within Highways and Planning following the ending of a joint working arrangement with Humber authorities in respect of geotechnical and pavement engineering; to improve and strengthen the Highways Alliance; to strengthen the asset management approach to highway engineering and to begin to address flood management and surface water drainage issues as detailed in the Pitt Report and the Government recommendations following the June 2007 floods; and to close the Waters Edge office accommodation, Barton upon Humber to centralise team working at the Highways Brigg Road Depot, Scunthorpe.

Resolved – (a) That the contents of the report be noted, and (b) that the report be submitted to the Corporate Services Cabinet Member for approval, including the decision to close the Waters Edge Office Accommodation.
