The following item contains exempt information as defined in paragraphs 1 and 2 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended).

1 (1) A REVIEW OF STRUCTURE OF THE TOURISM AND TOWN CENTRES TEAM – The Service Director Asset Management and Culture submitted a report seeking approval for a review of the Tourism and Town Centres team.

The Tourism and Town Centres team had transferred from the former Planning and Regeneration service to the Asset Management and Culture service in April 2007. The workload of the team and its function had changed and increased significantly over the last five years.

The report gave details of opportunities for tourism, problems within the retail sector and problems regarding service delivery, which had led to review of the team that commenced in September 2008. Full details of the restructure, including financial implications, were set out in the report and accompanying appendices.

Resolved – (a) That the findings of the review, as set out in Option 1 of the report, be approved, (b) that the phased implementation of the review, allowing immediate progress of Phase 1A, be approved, (c) and that a full option appraisal for the location of Scunthorpe TIC be undertaken, and opportunities for further efficiencies sought, and (d) that future proposals be submitted to the appropriate Cabinet Members at a suitable time to fully implement Option 1.

Note: Reports are in Portable Document Format (PDF) and therefore require a suitable reader to view them. A reader can be downloaded free from the Adobe website (full instructions for downloading the reader are provided on the site).

Where there is no report this is because it is exempt, as it contains information which is considered to be of a confidential nature, as detailed in the Local Government (Access to Information) Act.
