129 (34) ENTERPRISE ZONES – EXPRESSION OF INTEREST – The Head of Strategic Regeneration and Planning submitted a report seeking approval to submit and Expression of Interest for an Enterprise Zone as part of the Humber wide bid.

The Government had announced the establishment of 21 new Enterprise Zones in Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) areas across England. The first 11 LEP areas had been announced in the latest budget and a further 10 would be determined through competition.It was considered that the new Enterprise Zones would create new business and jobs to provide positive benefits across the wider economic area. The concept was to remove barriers to private sector growth through reduced burdens in the form of lower tax levels, planning and other regulatory and administration requirements.

It was explained that the new Enterprise Zones would create new business and jobs to provide positive benefits across the wider economic area. Expressions of interest needed to be submitted by the end of April 2011.

Resolved – (a) That the development and submission of an Expression of Interest as part of the Humber wide bid be approved.

The following item contained exempt information as defined in Paragraph 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended).

130 (35) COMMERCIAL PROPERTY TRANSACTION SCHEDULE – The Director of Infrastructure Services submitted a report for consideration and approval of the terms of all recently completed, current/ongoing and new property transactions.

Resolved – That the schedule appended to the report be approved.
