Adult and Children’s Services – minutes – 26 July 2011

5 (5) SURPLUS LAND BAYSGARTH SCHOOL – The Director of Children and Young People’s Services submitted a report that declared a strip of land adjacent to 3 Caistor Road surplus to Children’s Services requirements.

The adjacent land owner had approached the authority with a view to purchasing the land, which was situated behind a palisade fence, was difficult to maintain and had become a litter trap.

It was reported that the governors of Baysgarth School had considered the implications and agreed the disposal of the land. Infrastructure Services would negotiate the value of the land with the adjacent property owner and legal costs for the sale of the land would be met by the purchaser.

Resolved – (a) That the surplus land Baysgarth School be declared surplus to the requirements of the service with immediate effect, and (b) that option one outlined within the report be approved and adopted.

6 (6)  MESSINGHAM PRIMARY – NORTHFIELD ROAD SITE – The Director of Children and Young People’s Services submitted a report that declared the Messingham Primary Northfield Road site buildings and land surplus to Children’s Services requirements.

Messingham Primary School had operated from split sites on Northfield Road and Briggate Drive. A capital investment proposal was put forward to amalgamate provision onto one site. Building work started on the Briggate Drive site in November 2009.

It was explained that the building condition was likely to degenerate if left vacant and would quickly deteriorate over time, and that the buildings may become a target for vandalism and anti-social behaviour if left vacant.

Resolved – (a) That the Messingham Primary Northfield Road site buildings and land be declared surplus to the requirements of the service with immediate effect, and (b) that option one outlined within the report be approved and adopted.
