Highways & Neighbourhoods Cabinet Member – Minutes – 15 June 2011

The following item contains exempt information as defined in Paragraph 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended).

2 (2) PROCUREMENT OF INTERIM ORGANIC WASTE TREATMENT SERVICE – The Director of Neighbourhood and Environmental Services submitted a report to update the Cabinet Member with the progress of the procurement of the interim organic waste treatment service for the Council’s municipal waste.

The report explained that the procurement of an interim organic waste treatment service had been previously approved. Eleven organisations submitted pre-qualification questionnaires and four organisations were invited to submit tenders, of which three submitted tenders.

There was a need for an urgent decision because the existing contractual arrangements were scheduled to terminate on 30 June 2011 and could not be extended. The Alcatel period which was a legal requirement of the procurement process needed to be completed before contract award.

Resolved – (a) That the result of the evaluation of the tenders for an interim organic waste treatment contract be approved, and (b) the contract be awarded to Brier Hills Recycling Ltd.

Where there is no report this is because it is exempt, as it contains information which is considered to be of a confidential nature, as detailed in the Local Government (Access to Information) Act.
