Asset Management, Culture & Housing Cabinet Member – Minutes – 18 January 2013

34                    (34) TENANCY STRATEGY 2013-2018 – The Director of Places submitted a report seeking approval for the Northern Lincolnshire Tenancy Strategy following public consultation.

The Localism Act required councils to produce a tenancy strategy.  Registered providers (housing associations) must also produce a tenancy policy.  The council’s strategy was a joint strategy with North East Lincolnshire, the council’s partners in the Home Choice Lincs scheme.  The tenancy strategy guided providers on:

·         the kinds of tenancies they granted

·         the circumstances in which they would grant particular kinds of tenancy

·         where tenancies were granted for a certain term, the lengths of those terms, and

·         the circumstances in which they would grant a further tenancy when an existing tenancy ended.

Formal consultation on the Tenancy Strategy ended on 16 November 2012.  Consultation responses were set out in Appendix One to the report.

Resolved – That the Tenancy Strategy for North Lincolnshire be approved.
