16 (16) ANNUAL REPRESENTATIONS AND COMPLAINTS REPORT 2011-12–The Director of People submitted a report presenting the Annual Representation and Complaints Report 2011-12 for the Children and Young People’s Service and for the Adults Social Care Service in line with statutory requirements.

There was a statutory requirement to present an annual report covering representations and complaints received about services delivered under the Children Act 1989 and the NHS Community Care Act 1990.

The statutory procedures allowed service users, or representatives acting on their behalf, the right to make representations about the council’s services.  They required the council to address these representations, through a three stage process for complaints concerning services to children, and a two stage process for Adults Social Care Services.

The report gave details of complaints received, the subject of the complaints and how the complaints were resolved.

Resolved – That the Annual Representations and Complaints Report 2011-12 for the Children and Young People’s Service and the Adults Social Care Service be received and approved.
