Regeneration Cabinet Member – Minutes – 27 June 2013

The corresponding report of the following item (Minute 60refers) contains exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended).

60        (1)  NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE ENTERPRISE SUPPORT COMMUNITY INTEREST  COMPANY – The Director of Places submitted a report which provided an update on the business support activities provided by the Economic Development Unit.  An urgent decision was needed as North Lincolnshire Developments was in the process of being wound up and Goole Developments had been charged with completing this as soon as possible. The new community interest company had to be set up before the transfer of the remaining assets into the new company.

It was explained that the new company would provide bespoke and specialist business advice particularly for those looking at self-employment and start up/growth businesses.  It would operate as a separate entity to the Council but work together with the Economic Development Unit in a complementary approach.

Details of the proposal were outlined within the report.

Resolved – (a) That the establishment of a new community interest company to provide business support and advice be approved; (b) that a full business case be prepared for the community interest company setting out the funding sources, benefits and risks for the council prior to trading, and (c) that the business case be brought forward for consideration and sign off by the Cabinet Member at the earliest convenient opportunity.
