81        (10) OFSTED INSPECTIONS FOR LOCAL AUTHORITY SCHOOLS – The Director of People submitted a report to inform the Cabinet Member of the outcomes of the Ofsted inspection for Willoughby Road Primary School and Westcliffe Primary School.

The schools had been inspected under the Section 5 Ofsted inspection schedule for schools.  Full copies of the reports had been placed in the political group offices.

Resolved – That the Cabinet Member writes to the Headteacher or Chair of Governors/Interim Executive Board of the schools regarding the outcome of their inspection.

82        (11)  AMALGAMATION OF GRANGE LANE INFANT AND GRANGE LANE JUNIOR SCHOOLS – The Director of People submitted a report to inform of the School Adjudicator’s decision to approve the council’s proposal to merge Grange Lane Infant School and Grange Lane Junior School to create a through-primary school.

During October 2011, North Lincolnshire Council successfully applied to the Department for Education (DfE) for funding to create a new-build primary school to replace Grange Lane Infant School and Grange Lane Junior School.  In view of this, the LA sought the views of key stakeholders to determine their level of support to create a single primary school.  A thorough consultation was undertaken from 18 June 2012 to 10 August 2012 which identified that 93% of the respondents agreed with the amalgamation proposals.

Following the consultation a formal public notice was published that confirmed the exact details of the proposal and approval to establish a new community primary school was issued by the School Adjudicator on 19th June 2013.

Resolved – That the position to date regarding the amalgamation of Grange Lane Infant and Grange Lane Junior School be noted.
