1(1) TEACHING ASSISTANT APPRENTICESHIPS – SCHOOLS DEVELOPMENT – The Director of Places and Director of People submitted a joint report which sought approval to establish six new apprentice teaching assistant posts to support the council’s ambition to ‘grow our own’.

The report identified that the council had delivered a highly successful apprenticeship programme.  The programme had created opportunities for young people to ‘earn while they learn’, providing an alternative to University.

It was proposed that recruitment commence in June 2015 with a view to commencing employment in early September 2015.  The candidates would have the opportunity to use the council’s induction programme and access the internal annual training programme.

Conditions of the posts were outlined within the report.

Resolved That the proposal to create six new apprenticeship opportunities within schools using funding from the Council’s Apprenticeship Programme and Schools be approved.
