Safer, Greener & Cleaner Spaces Cabinet Member – Minutes – 17 August 2018
1 (1) SAFE AND SOUND HOME ASSISTANCE – The Executive Director: Commercial submitted a report seeking approval for the Home Assistance Policy to be amended to include the Safe and Sound element.
At the meeting of Full Council on 1 March 2018, the capital programme was approved, including £100k allocated for the delivery of Safe and Sound Home Assistance. The grant would be available for the installation of window locks, additional door locks and other security measures and would be targeted at older residents to help them feel safer at home. The Handyman Service was part of the Home Assistance Team to carry out minor adaptations and target hardening work.
All financial assistance currently available to home owners to help maintain, adapt or improve their homes, was contained within the Home Assistance Policy. This policy was updated to incorporate the Safe and Sound scheme.
The details of the proposed Safe and Sound scheme, including the eligibility criteria, conditions and the amount of assistance available, was attached to the report as Appendix 1.
Resolved – That the criteria for the Safe and Sound Home Assistance for inclusion within the updated Home Assistance Policy, be approved.
