Environment & Wellbeing Cabinet Member – Minutes – 19 June 2020

6 NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE PLAYING PITCH STRATEGY 2020-2025 – The Director: Learning, Skills and Culture submitted a report seeking approval for the 2020 to 2025 Playing Pitch Strategy for North Lincolnshire.

The Playing Pitch Strategy provided a formal assessment of the supply and quality of playing pitches across North Lincolnshire. It set out a framework for future action informed by Sport England, the relevant governing bodies of sport and the wider sporting community. This framework put the delivery partners in a strong position to take advantage of funding and investment opportunities. The Playing Pitch Strategy informed the Local Plan and supported the assessment of planning applications involving playing pitches.

Successes from the former (2013) North Lincolnshire strategy were detailed at paragraph 2.2 of the report.

Community needs had changed since 2013 and the new area-wide strategy reflected the current and anticipated needs of the North Lincolnshire area. The strategy was developed to a prescribed methodology in partnership with the relevant sports governing bodies including the Football Association, the Rugby Football Union, England Hockey, the England Cricket Board, Sport England and Active Humber.

Resolved – (a) That the North Lincolnshire Playing Pitch Strategy 2020-2025 be approved, and (b) that the development of a forward plan ‘Play, Sport and Leisure’ for North Lincolnshire be progressed.
