The panel met at the Civic Centre, Scunthorpe.
151 DECLARATIONS OF DISCOSABLE PECUNIARY INTERESTS AND PERSONAL OR PERSONAL AND PREJUDICIAL INTERESTS AND DECLARATIONS OF WHIPPING ARRANGEMENTS (IF ANY) – There were no declarations of disclosable pecuniary interests and personal or personal and prejudicial interests –
No whip was declared.
152 PUBLIC REQUESTS TO SPEAK – There were no requests received.
153 REVIEW OF ENSURING YOUNG PEOPLE HAVE THE RELEVANT SKILLS TO MOVE INTO EMPLOYMENT – Members considered the draft report on the review of ‘ensuring young people have the relevant skills to move into employment’ and discussed potential conclusions and recommendations for inclusion in the final report.
Resolved – (a) That the amendments discussed at the meeting be included in the report, and (b) that a further draft be brought back to the next meeting
154 CABINET MEMBER AND SERVICE AREA PRIORITIES – The Chairman welcomed Councillor Waltham to the meeting. Councillor Waltham had been invited to the panel meeting to update members on any key decisions, important business or significant developments which had occurred during the last quarter, and those that were being planned for the near future.
Resolved – (a) That the update be noted, and (b) that the Cabinet member for People be thanked for his attendance, presentation and answering members questions.
155 POTENTIAL TOPICS/ISSUES FOR THE NEXT SCRUTINY REVIEW – The panel discussed various different issues that were of concern and could be potential areas for scrutiny to review. High on the topic of discussion was childhood weight, and the worrying statistics that had recently been released. Members decided that they wished to look into this area in more detail and carry out a scrutiny review.
Resolved – That the next review to be carried out by the People Scrutiny Panel be Childhood Weight in North Lincolnshire.
