People Scrutiny Panel – 28 November 2012

PRESENT:  Councillor Marper in the Chair.
Councillors Collinson (Vice-Chair), Godfrey, Eckhardt and Wells.

Statutory Co-opted Members:  Mr W Egan and Mrs W Witter (Church Representatives).

The panel met at the Civic Centre, Scunthorpe.

146  DECLARATIONS OF DISCOSABLE PECUNIARY INTERESTS AND PERSONAL OR PERSONAL AND PREJUDICIAL INTERESTS AND DECLARATIONS OF WHIPPING ARRANGEMENTS (IF ANY) – There were no declarations of disclosable pecuniary interests and personal or personal and prejudicial interests –

No whip was declared.

147  PUBLIC REQUESTS TO SPEAK There were no requests received.

148  NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE COUNCIL SERVICES TO SCHOOLS – The Chairman welcomed Jason Whaler Assistant Director: Business Support to the meeting, and Councillor Poole the council’s Cabinet Member for Policy and Resources. They were invited to the meeting to discuss progress that had been made on the Commercial post that had been advertised and subsequently filled.  They informed the panel of new related initiatives to be undertaken and the progress they intended to take over the next six months.

Resolved – (a) That the Assistant Director and Cabinet member be thanked for their attendance and for answering members’ questions, and (b) that after six months they be requested to report back to the Peoples scrutiny panel with an update.

149  UPDATE ON INJURIES AND FALLS IN PEOPLE AGED 65 AND OVER – Members received an update on the recent statistics for injuries caused by falls in the 65 years and over age category, and how that had a knock on effect to other services provided in North Lincolnshire. They were informed that the figures were good for North Lincolnshire in comparison to other areas.

Resolved – That the update be noted.
