PRESENT: Councillor Marper in the Chair.
Councillors Clark, Godfrey, Kataria and Wells.
Statutory Co-opted Members: Mrs Angela Dunkerley (Parent Governor Representative) and Mr W Egan (Church Representatives).
The panel met at the Civic Centre, Scunthorpe.
192 DECLARATIONS OF DISCOSABLE PECUNIARY INTERESTS AND PERSONAL OR PERSONAL AND PREJUDICIAL INTERESTS AND DECLARATIONS OF WHIPPING ARRANGEMENTS (IF ANY) – There were no declarations of disclosable pecuniary interests and personal or personal and prejudicial interests –
No whip was declared.
193 PUBLIC REQUESTS TO SPEAK – There were no requests received.
194 (1) TERMS OF REFERENCE – The Director of Policy and Resources briefed members on the People Scrutiny Panel terms of reference and panel membership which were agreed by council at its Annual Meeting on 14 May 2013.
Resolved – That the panel’s terms of reference be noted.
195 (2) MEETINGS OF THE SCRUTINY PANEL – The Director of Policy and Resources circulated dates of future scheduled meetings. The Chairman explained that it was envisaged that informal meetings or sub-groups would meet in-between formal dates, reporting back to the full panel.
Resolved – (a) That the report be noted, and (b) that a revised list be submitted to the next meeting with changes to the scheduled meeting dates.
196 CO-OPTED MEMBERS – The Chairman informed the panel that following the terms of office of two previously co-opted members Angela Dunkerley and Wendy Whitter coming to and end, she wished to introduce and welcome the two new co-opted parent governors representatives to the panel Donna Senior and Petula Whittaker.
Resolved – That the action be noted.
197 REVIEW OF CHILDHOOD WEIGHT IN NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE – The Chairman discussed the ongoing review of childhood weight in North Lincolnshire and paid particular attention to the uptake of school meals, policies for packed lunches within schools, flagship schools and school sports activities. It was also discussed and suggested that the panel visit various schools throughout the North Lincolnshire area.
Resolved – (a) That schools be contacted, and future visits be organised.
