MINUTES
PRESENT: Councillor Evison in the chair.
Councillors Davison (vice chair), England, Oldfield and T Foster.
Councillor Whiteley attended the meeting in accordance with the provisions of Procedure Rule 1.37 (b).
The panel met at the Civic Centre, Scunthorpe.
319 DECLARATIONS OF DISCLOSABLE PECUNIARY INTERESTS AND PERSONAL OR PERSONAL AND PREJUDICIAL INTERESTS AND DECLARATIONS OF WHIPPING ARRANGEMENTS (IF ANY) – There were no declarations of pecuniary or personal and prejudicial interests.
No whip was declared.
320 MINUTES – Resolved – That the minutes of the proceedings of this panel held on 6 November 2013, having been printed and circulated amongst the members, be taken as read and correctly recorded and signed by the chairman.
321 PUBLIC REQUESTS TO SPEAK – There were no requests received.
322 NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE TOURISM STRATEGY – The Chairman welcomes Marcus Walker and Christine Edwards to the meeting, the council’s Assistant Director Planning and Regeneration and Tourism and Town Centre Manager respectively. Mr Walker and Mrs Edwards had been invited to the meeting to discuss North Lincolnshire’s Tourism Strategy for 2014-15.
Mr Walker and Mrs Edwards guided members’ through –
- Value to North Lincolnshire’s economy of tourism,
- The core functions of the tourism team,
- Strategic tourism, tourism development, major events, speciality markets and events development.
- Tourism marketing, Visitor numbers, and
- Barrier to be overcome.
Following the presentation, the Chairman facilitated a discussion between the council’s Assistant Director Planning and Regeneration and Tourism and Town Centre Manager and panel members.
Resolved – (a) That the council’s Assistant Director Planning and Regeneration and Tourism and Town Centre Manager be thanked for their attendance, presentation and for answering members’ questions, and (b) that the item be discussed at the panel’s next meeting.
323 CHILD SEXUAL EXPLOITATION – Further to Minute 315, the Director of Policy and Resources updated members on the status of the review, including the confirmed list of stakeholders to be interviewed and the interviews still to be arranged.
Resolved – That the position be noted.
