Health Scrutiny Panel – 28 July 2014

The panel met at the Civic Centre, Scunthorpe.

234 DECLARATIONS OF DISCLOSABLE PECUNIARY INTERESTS AND PERSONAL OR PERSONAL AND PREJUDICIAL INTERESTS AND DECLARATIONS OF WHIPPING ARRANGEMENTS (IF ANY) – There were no declarations of disclosable pecuniary interests and personal or personal and prejudicial interests.

No whip was declared.

235 PUBLIC REQUESTS TO SPEAK – There were no requests received.

236 (4) CARE QUALITY COMMISSION (CQC) INSPECTION REPORTS, NORTHERN LINCOLNSHIRE & GOOLE NHS FOUNDATION TRUST – The Chairman welcomed Karen Jackson, Chief Executive, Karen Dunderdale, Chief Nurse, and Wendy Booth, Director of Performance Assurance, Northern Lincolnshire & Goole NHS Foundation Trust to the meeting.  The Chairman explained that the witnesses had been invited to discuss the recently published reports from the CQC about performance at the Trust’s three hospital sites.  Karen Jackson gave an overview of the CQC’s findings, along with some history of the Trust’s situation in recent years, with a particular focus on the findings of the inspection at Scunthorpe General Hospital.

Members asked questions on related issues, including staffing levels,  hourly checks, the subsequent action plan, and recruitment.

Resolved – (a) That a date be arranged to enable the panel to conduct a site visit at Scunthorpe General Hospital, (b) that the situation be noted, and (c) that Karen Jackson, Karen Dunderdale and Wendy Booth be thanked for their attendance.
