Corporate Scrutiny Panel – 2 July 2015

The panel met at the Civic Centre, Scunthorpe.

340  DECLARATIONS OF DISCLOSABLE PECUNIARY INTERESTS AND PERSONAL OR PERSONAL AND PREJUDICIAL INTERESTS AND DECLARATIONS OF WHIPPING ARRANGEMENTS (IF ANY) – Councillor Perry declared a personal interest as the Managing Director of Communities Advice Centre (minute 343 refers).

No whip was declared.

341  MINUTES – Resolved – That the minutes of the proceedings of this panel held on 11 June 2015, having been printed and circulated amongst the members, be taken as read and correctly recorded and signed by the chairman.

342  PUBLIC REQUESTS TO SPEAK There were no requests received.

343  REGENERATING NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE – Further to Minute 294, the Chairman welcomed Lesley Potts, the council’s Head of Policy and Research to the meeting.  Miss Potts had been invited to discuss with members the impact that apprenticeships had for those individuals aged 16 years and older who were not in full time education, to work for a real employer, earn a real salary and gain a real qualification whilst gaining valuable workplace skills and experience

Miss Potts delivered an oral presentation, before the Chairman facilitated a discussion on how apprenticeships were providing employment opportunities to assist the regeneration of North Lincolnshire.

Resolved – (a) That the position be noted, and (b) that the Head of Policy and Research be thanked for her attendance, presentation and for answering members’ questions.
