MINUTES

PRESENT:-    Councillor T Foster in the Chair.

Councillors Yeadon (Vice-Chair), Armiger, Clark, Evison, Longcake and Mitchell.

Statutory Co-opted Members: G Marsden (Church Representative), and P Whittaker (Parent Governor Rpresentative).

The panel met at the Church Square House, High Street, Scunthorpe.

9   DECLARATIONS OF DISCLOSABLE PECUNIARY INTERESTS AND PERSONAL OR PERSONAL AND PREJUDICIAL INTERESTS AND DECLARATIONS OF WHIPPING ARRANGEMENTS (IF ANY) – Mrs Whittaker declared a personal interest as a North Lincolnshire Foster Carer.

No whip was declared.

10  MINUTES – Resolved – That the minutes of the meeting of this panel held on 4 September 2019, having been printed and circulated amongst the members, be taken as read and correctly recorded and be signed by the chairman.

11  PUBLIC REQUESTS TO SPEAK – There were no requests received.

12  ANNUAL EDUCATION REPORT – The Chairman welcomed Jemima Flintoff, Head of Standards and Effectiveness, to the meeting.  The Chairman explained that Jemima had been invited to update members on the draft Annual Education Report.

Jemima explained that the report would be finalised in January, following data verification.  Jemima progressed her presentation through each Key Stage, highlighting successes, priorities, and areas for further work on each.  Performance was benchmarked against regional and national results.

Members asked relevant questions throughout the presentation, discussing topics such as ensuring service accessibility for those with SEND, literacy, work to ensure consistency, and post-16 education.

Resolved – (a) That Jemima Flintoff be thanked for their attendance, the update, and for providing answers to members’ questions, and (b) that the situation be noted.

13  ADDED ITEM – There was no added item for consideration at the meeting.  An added item on ensuring the welfare of children and young people would be considered at a future meeting.
