PRESENT: – Councillor Robinson in the chair.

Councillors Gosling (Vice-Chair) and Allcock.

35 MINUTES SILENCE IN MEMORY OF COUNCILLOR DEREK LONGCAKE – As a mark of respect, the committee observed a minutes silence following the sad and untimely passing of scrutiny panel member Councillor Derek Longcake.

36 DECLARATIONS OF DISCLOSABLE PECUNIARY INTERESTS AND PERSONAL OR PERSONAL AND PREJUDICIAL INTERESTS AND DECLARATIONS OF WHIPPING ARRANGEMENTS (IF ANY) – There were no declarations of disclosable pecuniary interests and personal or personal and prejudicial interests.

No whip was declared.

37 MINUTES – Resolved – That the minutes of the proceedings of the meeting held on 17 December 2019 and 18 February 2020, having been printed and circulated amongst the members, be taken as read and correctly recorded and be signed by the Chairman.

38 CABINET MEMBER – COMMERCIAL – The Chairman welcomed Councillor Poole to the meeting, the council’s Cabinet Member – Commercial. Councillor Poole had been invited to the meeting to discuss with the scrutiny panel the response that had been provided by the council services within his Cabinet Member portfolio to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Cabinet Member also provided an update on other areas of activity within the Commercial Cabinet Member portfolio.

Following the Cabinet Member presentation, the Chairman facilitated a discussion between the scrutiny panel members and Councillor Poole.

Resolved – (a) That the Cabinet Member – Commercial be thanked for his attendance, presentation and for answering scrutiny panel members questions, and (b) that the verbal presentation be received with thanks.
