70        (70) OFSTED INSPECTIONS FOR LOCAL AUTHORITY SCHOOLS – The Director of People submitted a report to inform the Cabinet Member of the outcomes of the Ofsted inspection for the Vale Academy.

The schools had been inspected under the Section 5 Ofsted inspection schedule for schools.  Full copies of the reports had been placed in the political group offices.

Resolved – That the Cabinet Member writes to the Head teacher of the school regarding the outcome of their inspection.

71        (71)  CHILDREN’S CENTRE OFSTED INSPECTION OUTCOME – The Director of People submitted a report informing the Cabinet Member of the outcome of the Ofsted Inspection of Brigg Children’s Centre.

All Children’s Centres were subject to annual inspections carried out by Ofsted inspectors over a five yearly cycle.  This was the first inspection for the Brigg Children’s Centre.

The inspections were carried out under Part 3A of the Childcare Act 2006 as  inserted by section 199 of the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009.

Inspectors gathered evidence from a range of interviews, observations and the examination of written information and the overall judgement was based on overall effectiveness and capacity for sustained improvement.

The report gave full details of the outcomes of the inspection.

Resolved – (a)  That the Cabinet Member continues to support improvements at Brigg Children’s Centre, and (b) that the Cabinet Member writes to Brigg Children’s Centre and makes suitable comment on the inspection report.
